After your cameras are connected and working, choose your Internet connection.  This is done at the Configure Your Internet Connection screen. Configure Your Internet Connection

First, specify your connection by choosing either the Always On or Dial-Up selections. Always On

The Always On selection means your computer is always connected to the Internet whenever it is on, usually via a T1 line, cable modem, or DSL connection.  If you use this type of service, select Always On and then click the Test Connection button.  After a few seconds, Xanboo should report that the test connection was successful.

If the test was successful, click Next.

If the test fails, Xanboo will report this as well. To correct the problem you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider.

Configure Your Internet Connection

Dial-Up

If your connection is over a normal phone line and not broadband, select the Dial-Up option.  You’ll see that Xanboo automatically locates the Internet Service Provider, or ISP, you currently use for Internet access.

If you wish, you may click the More button to search your computer for other ISPs.  From the drop-down list that appears, select the ISP you want Xanboo to use, then click the Find button to search your computer for this ISP’s application software.  You’ll see a message if it is found.

After selecting your ISP, you’ll notice the setup asks for more information to configure your Internet connection.  It may ask you to enter your ISP phone number as well as your ISP User ID and Password to access the Internet.  Or it may report that this information is set within your ISP program, in which case you do not enter this information on this screen.

When ready, click the Accept ISP button.

Now, you’re asked to choose how Xanboo connects to the Internet, and how long Xanboo will remain connected.  For more information about what to choose, consult the Xanboo Help file.  You can change these selections at another time, if you wish.

After you make your selections, click the Test Connection button.

Xanboo tests the connection by dialing up your ISP.  If the connection is fine, you’ll see your ISP home page.  Click Next.

If the test fails, Xanboo will report this as well.  To correct the problem, you may need to contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider.)  A test connection must be successfully performed to complete installation.

Step 11: Set Up Your Sensors
View video of Step 11

Windows Media

Quicktime

After installing and setting up your Xanboo system, you may want to install sensors.  Motion sensors are already contained in your cameras. Three types of wireless sensors are also currently available:
  • Acoustic, to detect sounds
  • Door/Window (also referred to as Contact), to detect something opening or closing, like a door, window, or even a file cabinet
  • Water, to detect the presence of water, for instance, a leak in your basement
All sensors except the acoustic have a tab on the side, which you must remove to power them.  The acoustic sensor comes with an external AC power adapter.  Power up your sensors, and then continue.

To begin installing the sensors, go to the Xanboo Main Display Menu Bar and click the Setup selector.  A drop-down menu appears, listing a series of setup choices.  Click number 3, Setup Sensors.

The first screen you’ll see is the Detect Sensors setup  When this screen opens, the motion sensors in the cameras connected to your Xanboo System Controller are automatically detected.

Remove the tab at the side of each sensor, except the acoustic sensor, to turn on the sensor’s power.  The acoustic sensor uses an external power adapter that you plug into a wall outlet for power.

Press the test button located on the bottom of each sensor.  Press just one sensor test button at a time.

When you press the test button, Xanboo detects the sensor and registers it on the Detect Sensors screen.  A green X appears in the New column on the screen, indicating that the sensor has been detected.  The sensor type, serial number, and name also appear in nearby columns.

Press the test button of another sensor, and check that this sensor is also detected and listed.  The green X in the New column moves to this sensor, indicating it has been detected.  The X always appears at the latest sensor detected.

When all sensors have been detected, click Next to proceed to the Configure Sensors setup screen.

Step 12: Configuring Your Sensors
View video of Step 12

Windows Media

Quicktime

After detecting your sensors, at the Configure Sensors screen you can change the configuration of your sensors’ settings.  First, select a sensor to configure in Item 1.  Then click the Edit Configuration button.

You now can change the sensor’s name, set the sensor to send a notice when an event occurs, or select a response, known as an Action, when the sensor is triggered.

In item 4, a drop-down list shows the action choices for the selected sensor: None, Capture Image, Capture Video or Send Event Only.  Select one Action from the list.

In item 5, a particular Target camera can be selected to perform the action chosen in Item 4.  For example, Camera 1 can be selected to Capture Video when a door/window sensor detects a door opening.

Item 6 lets you set or eliminate the Quiet Period, which is the length of time the selected sensor remains inactive after a sensor-triggering incident.  The period can be as short as 5 seconds or as long as 10 minutes.  A drop-down list shows the Quiet Period choices.  Select a time, or eliminate the Quiet Period by selecting None from the list.  Another choice is Trigger once only, which sets the sensor to send just one event notice only when it is first triggered, regardless of the number of sensor-triggering incidents that may occur afterward.  Make one selection from the list.

When you’re finished changing the settings of the selected sensor, click the Accept Configuration button.  Your settings changes for the sensor have now been saved.  You can select another sensor to change by once again clicking the Edit Configuration button, which reappears after each edit session.

Only one sensor at a time can be changed.  In order to save changed configuration settings, each sensor’s changes must be accepted before changing the settings on another sensor.

When you've finished detecting sensors and changing their configuration settings, be sure to click next, and then click the Finish Setup button at the following screen, Setup Is Complete.  The detected sensors are recorded and their new settings are now saved and uploaded to your Xanboo.com account.
