- The receiver chimes and the red ALERT button flashes constantly to alert you that a vehicle is approaching.
- Small, rugged, weatherproof sensor provides years of reliable service.
- Adjustable sensitivity
How it Works
The sensor is designed to monitor changes in the Earth's magnetic field as a vehicle passes. The Driveway Monitor sensor is not falsely triggered by animals or people - the sensor only detects vehicles or large metal objects. When triggered, the sensor sends a radio signal to the Driveway Monitor receiver in the home ( up to 600 feet away) to let you know that a vehicle is approaching.
Sensor uses 2 "C" alkaline batteries (included)
Receiver uses 120VAC input/12VDC output adapter (included)
Easy Installation
Plug the AC adapter into the Driveway Monitor receiver. Mount the sensor outside by driving the plastic rod into the ground next to the driveway and mounting the sensor to the rod. Driveway Monitor will chime for a few seconds and the red ALERT button will flash constantly to alert you to the arrival of a vehicle. Simply press the red ALERT button to reset the flashing light.
Useful Tips
We have tested this system and found it to provide excellent performance when installed with the following considerations.
Sensor & Receiver Location for Maximum Performance
|
- All range distances quoted are between the Driveway Sensor and Receiver, and represent line-of-sight distances. Range will decrease proportionately with the quantity and density of the objects between the Sensor and the Receiver.
- The mounting stake provided with the Driveway Monitor system is designed to satisfy the requirements of most users. Mounting the Sensor at the top of the provided stake will provide a "working" range of 100' to 300' from the sensor to the receiver.
- Mount the Sensor to a stationary object about 3' high to achieve a range up to 500'. Increase the sensor height to 5' for maximum range.
- The Sensor should not be located between the Receiver and the vehicle.
- The Sensor should be located 25' or more from a road.
- The Receiver should be located on an outside wall or window for maximum performance.
Set-up and Testing
|
- It is important to give the Sensor a minimum of 15 seconds to reset after each test. It is best to time this rather than judge it.
- There is a delay of about 2 seconds from the time a vehicle passes the Sensor to when it is heard.
- When drive-testing the System, be sure the vehicle moves past the Sensor at 1MPH or more and continues at least 25' past the Sensor before stopping.
- The Sensor has a Low, Medium, & High Sensitivity adjustment and is set at Medium at the factory. In this position the Sensor must be located so that a vehicle will pass within 6' or 7' of it. Select the High Sensitivity position for greater distance.
Troubleshooting
To determine if a sensitivity problem is related to the distance between the sensor and the vehicle or between the sensor and the receiver it is suggested that the receiver be plugged into an extension cord and located as closeley to the sensor as possible.
