Setup for the WaterDog
Positioning your WaterDog
Locate the WaterDog in an area where water spillage is acceptable. Some mulch, artificial grass, or gravel will ensure a clean, mud free zone. Attach the WaterDog to the faucet or hose and adjust the height so the sensors will be at the same height as the dog's body (diagram A). The line of sight of the sensors should be parallel to the round; if the sensors point downwards, the ground may activate the WaterDog, if they point upwards, rain may interfere with the sensors.
For small dogs, pointing the unit slightly upwards to avoid interference with the ground may be necessary. If our dog prefers to drink out of one side of his mouth, the nozzle on the front of the WaterDog can be rotated to the left or right to allow the sensors a better view of the dog's head while he is drinking (diagram B). If your pet is inconsistent in its approach to the WaterDog, it may be necessary to place obstacles on the ground to force him to always approach and drink from a known location.
Testimonial (addressed to Contech, manufacturer of the WaterDog)
"Wow I'm impressed! I do love your product. My only regret is I couldn't have had one of these years ago! It is especially useful for me. As I told Mike, I have a Mastiff and he loves his water. What always made it an extra chore was his jowls. As soon as he drinks especially if he's really thirsty he drinks about half the bowl and leaves behind a slimy disgusting mess.
The beauty of the Waterdog is it not only quenches his thirst on demand but it also flushes his jowls. He was already used to drinking out of a water bottle on our walks so he took to the Waterdog immediately. It's hard to believe but he's almost 7 years old. His name is Dozer and I can tell he loves his Waterdog already. It's funny in the pictures I've seen it shows a Golden retriever delicately drinking it midstream. Not with Dozer! He drinks it directly out of the spigot.
As I was sitting here writing this he did his old trick of pawing at his old water dish which I usually only fill for the cats now. So I got up and led him to the backdoor and let him out. It's hilarious he's a rather suspicious dog in his older age and I don't think he trusts it completely. So he's almost nervous walking up to it. He still sometimes jumps slightly when the water starts coming out but as soon as the water is flowing he's making love to the thing. All kidding aside I think he likes it as much as I do and that is saying a lot.
I plan to email some of the Mastiff sites and the Mastiff Club of America and tell them about your fine product.
I honestly think that anyone with a Mastiff or St. Bernard or other slobbering breed would love to hear about the Waterdog. I really think that as soon as they saw how well it cleans out the jowls they would buy it. I know I've been wishing for such a product for years. Also if you want to use anything I said as a testimonial I wouldn't mind. I really believe any dog lover should have one.
Anyways I am very impressed with your level of service. Before I would have recommended the Waterdog to everyone but with reservations. Now after seeing how good your customer service is I would recommend it without hesitation. As a matter of fact I'll be sure to tell them how you were the ones to get a hold of me when I had a small problem. I imagine that's a pretty rare thing these days when you consider you can't even talk to a actual person at most businesses these days without wading through some automated operator. I know I sure do appreciate it. Thanks Karen."
