The Leviton Entertainment & Applications Platform (LE&AP or LEAP) is an all-digital media storage and retrieval system that’s part of the home’s structured cabling network.
Why does every home need it?
Because most homes today are loaded with digital media. The average PC and internet user has hundreds or even thousands of songs in their PC along with videos, and the typical household has at least one digital camera and possibly thousands of digital photos. But all that media stays in the PC, which means anyone wanting to listen to all that music or view those photos has to “gather around the PC.” With the Leviton Entertainment & Applications Platform, all that digital media is accessible throughout the home—on any networked TV or entertainment system.
It’s also the home’s PC network.
The Leviton Entertainment & Applications Platform’s Media Center (the device that goes inside the Structured Media Center) is also an internet gateway that serves as your protective firewall while also letting you network your computers and share your internet broadband connection! So, not only does it run your home entertainment—it can manage your home office as well.
What makes it different?
This is the first truly affordable and user-friendly whole-house digital entertainment system. Before the platform, there were only two ways to get digital music, videos and photos for use around the home over a network: expensive and complex audio/video "component" servers and systems, or "media PC" systems with their associated reliability and un-friendly and not reliable—as well as really difficult to set-up and keep running smoothly in such a system. Unlike complicated AV servers or unreliable PC-based entertainment systems, the Leviton approach is as easy to use as a TV set with a cable box and remote control. In fact, it operates just like one, with simple, easy-to-read menus for flipping through photos or choosing songs.
The Leviton Entertainment and Applications Platform is designed both for everyday, mainstream digital technologies and media as well as the emerging technologies still on the horizon. With the platform, one can easily organize, access, control and enjoy digital music, video, photos–from any number of sources– from any room in the house. Because the platform is installed and configured as part of the home's structured cabling system, it is easy to install, use and operate.

On the networking side, it functions as an Internet-sharing residential gateway, an advanced multi–port switch, and a commercial–grade firewall. In the entertainment space, it is an upgradeable media server with 120GB of storage, a digital photography archive and display system, and – when interfaced with your audio/video gear with the dedicated Digital Player – a personal digital video server and high-definition digital audio system.
Because all this capability is engineered into a single integrated digital platform, the Leviton solution can store and distribute digital music, video and photos more efficiently and cost–effectively than separate components. Equally important, as a built–in solution, Leviton’s Entertainment and Applications Platform can be included in a new home’s financing package, making it a luxury upgrade that's also exceptionally affordable.

Leviton LE&AP Digital Distribution Center - LEAPS-120
The DDC is the core device on the Leviton Entertainment and Applications Platform and can store and distribute up to 120,000 1MB photos, or up to 24,000 5MB songs, or up to 120 1GB, 2 hour MPEG4 videos or any combination thereof.
