Installs at the electrical panel to couple both phases of the 220v circuit. 1:1 ratio. The XPCP allows X10 power line carrier signals to cross between phases at the electrical panel, rather than traveling all the way out to the transformer on the pole and back again, ensuring greater signal strength. The coupler is installed from one phase to another n the breaker panel. The unit may be used in single (split-phase) or three phase installations.

Note: Installation must be carried out by qualified installers only The main breaker must be turned oft during installation and the coupler must be installed in a suitable workbox or equivalent enclosure. Installation must be carried out in accordance with all applicable codes and requirements, including, but not limited to, the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Installing the coupler
  • Turn off the power at the main breaker panel.
  • Install the coupler into a suitable workbox or equivalent enclosure using the two mounting holes.
  • Connect one black wire to the phase you are coupling from, and the other to the phase you are coupling to, using wire ruts. Check that there are no bare wires protruding and cover the wire nuts with insulating tape if necessary.
  • Connect the two white wires to the Neutral strap in the breaker panel.
  • Check all wiring and connections, and turn on the main breaker.
  • Test for signal strength on all phases using signal transmitter and signal strength meter, XPTT and XPTR.
