IR543AH All-Housecode IR Command Centre
The IR543AH behaves similar to a standard IR543 when used with
the standard IR remotes such as UR24A/UR24E. However, when used
in conjunction with a Philips Pronto Intelligent Remote that is
programmed with the supplied configuration files (*1), the IR543AH
is capable of transmitting all X-10 house and unit codes. It
also auto-detects the AC operating frequency (50/60Hz) and
adjusts its timing accordingly.
Initial Power-Up
On initial power-up, the IR house code defaults to the same code
as the red house code wheel house code. Once a valid house code
is received via IR, the new code will become the default IR house
code. The IR house code can be different to the keypad one and the
two will work independently. On switch-on, the IR543AH flashes the
2 red LEDs 4 times to distinguish it from the standard IR543.
In operation
Whenever a unit code or a command is received (either via the
keypad or via IR), two flashes of the LEDs are made. When
the house code is received via IR, one flash of the LEDs is made.
Both the key presses and IR commands are buffered.
Both the house code and unit code may also reside in the same button
thereby creating a button for a specific X-10 module.
House Code IR format
The 40KHz IR house code signal format is as follows:
0x00A5 0x0096 Lead-in
(4-burst pair) House code, standard X-10 coding. eg. A=0110, B=1110
(4-burst pair) House code compliment
0x01C2 0x0096 Inter-message code
0x00A5 0x0096 Lead-in
(4-burst pair) House code
(4-burst pair) House code compliment
0x01C2 0x0E10 Lead-out
Example: Housecode A (0110)
0x00A5 0x0096 Lead-in
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x01C2 0x0096 Inter-message code
0x00A5 0x0096 Lead-in
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x002E 0x00FE 0
0x008E 0x0096 1
0x01C2 0x0E10 Lead-out
A complete house code transmission takes 40 words or 80 bytes to complete.
Extra Information
The Keypad can, in theory, be extended. There are only 14 keys on the
IR543 (1 to 8, All-Lights-On, Bright, On, Off, All-Units-Off, and Dim).
Note the (1-4 / 5-8) slide switch that gives four keys dual functions.
The new keypad routine uses a matrix of 3 x 8 which gives a maximum
of 24 keys. If the IR543 case was re-designed to allow more keys, the
new firmware is capable of detecting these extra keys. It would be
possible to use all 16 unit codes, All-Lights-On, Bright, On, Off,
All-Units-Off, Dim, All-Lights-Off keys for a total of 23 keys and
eliminate the slide switch.
The unit is also capable of sending Preset Dim (1) and Preset Dim (2)
commands. However, these two commands are no longer available in the
X-10 Extended Command Set.
