  Aprilaire Flush Mount Temperature Sensor

Aprilaire Flush Mount Temperature Sensor
For those areas where it's preferred to see nothing at all.

The 8051 Flush Mount Temperature Sensor allows you to mount the thermostat out of sight. The 8051 can be painted to match the wall and is almost invisible, while providing outstanding temperature accuracy. As soon as the 8051 is attached to the the thermostat, the sensor in the thermostat is disconnected, meaning the thermostat can be mounted anywhere, or centrally mounted in a wiring closet or mechanical room.

Overview Manual FAQ x10
The Flush Mount Sensor requires a one inch hole drilled in the sheet rock, and press fits into this hole. The 8051 ties back to the support module with two wires. The support module typically is mounted by or behind the thermostat, and connects with 3 wires to the thermostat. This sensor requires either the 8061 Temperture Sensor Module or 8062 Temperture Humidity Sensor Module. Connected to an Aprilaire Thermostat to Operate.

Specs:
  • Heating control range 38 to 88F, cooling 60 to 108F.
  • Requires a 1 inch hole drilled in wall
  • Visible part of Flush Mount Sensor is about 1.15 in diameter.
Tech Tip: Wiring Work Around
The 8051 is an important problem solver when the installer is short on wires. The 8051 needs only two wires to operate, so the thermostat can be mounted elsewhere where additional wires can be added. Tech Tip: Temperature Averaging-Up to Six 8051 can be tied to one thermostat to accomplish temperature averaging. The thermostat will control based on the average temperature on all sensors connected.

Temperature averaging is a vital tool for large rooms with vaulted ceilings, walls of glass, or any area with unique temperature problems. On serial port communicating StatNet thermostats, the average temperature will be displayed at the host computer control system.

General Tech Tip on Wiring:
Thermostat wiring to all surface mount or support sensor modules is 300 feet max, CAT 5 preferred, thermostat wire OK, at least 3 conductor 18 to 24 gauge. From support modules to temperature probes, 300 feet max, CAT 5 preferred, (2 wires actually used). Sensors always wire directly to the thermostats, not to communication or distribution panels.
