Basic Satellite Distribution Facts
  • For signals higher than 950 MHz, RG6 loses 8dB (measurement of signal) per 100 feet, and
  • RG 11 loses 5dB per 100 feet.
  • You start at {35dB at the dish
  • The hottest you can hit the reciever is -25dB.
  • The coldest you can hit the reciever is {55 to {60dB.
  • You must be within this range of {25dB and {55 to {60dB or you will not receive signal.
  • You must keep track of through loss and tap loss as well as line loss (distance).
  • If there are two Dual LNB'S at the dish, four coax cables must come from dish into amplifier or multiswitch.
  • If there is one Dual LNB at the dish, two coax cables must come from dish to multi-switch.
  • Every receiver requires a coax cable coming directly from a multi-switch.
  • The in-feed labeled Terr.(Terrestrial) is for off-air antenna, or CATV and modulation.
  • If passing off-air or CATV, a Diplexer (SAT-D2) must be used at each satellite receiver.
