Access Control with 10 iButton™ keys.
The ELK-MK420 is a pre-programmed Magic Module™ Access Control that uses the Dallas iButton™ access keys. Ten iButtons™ are pre-programmed into the MK420 Access Control Kit. Additional iButtons™ may be added.

Each iButton™ contains a 48 bit unique key number that identifies the user. By touching the reader contacts, the key is identified and if the key code is valid the door strike output will be activated as described below and the iButton™ information will be broadcast on the data bus for data logging by a computer or data logging module.
Included is a 3 + inch floppy disk containing the Magic Module™ access program including the ten (10) pre-programmed iButton™ codes. Custom program changes, additions, and deletions of iButton™ codes may be made to the program using the ELK Programming Kit (ELK-MK485) or Starter Kit (ELK-MK400).

INPUT Definitions:
|
- Input 1, Exit Button - Uses a 2000 ohm end-of-line resistor. Open or short the loop (activated) to activate the Door Strike Output. As long as the Exit Button is activated, the Door Strike Output will remain active. Restoring the input (normal) sets a 15 second delay timer for the Door Strike Output to remain active. The Exit Button input uses a 300 millisecond loop response time. If this input is not used, place the 2000 ohm resistor on the Input 1 terminals.
- Input 2, Door Switch - Uses a 2000 ohm end-of-line resistor. If the Exit Button is not activated, and the Door Switch is held activated for more than 60 seconds, the Door Alarm Output will be activated until the Door Switch has been restored to normal. If the Door Switch is activated and the Exit Button has not been pushed or a valid ELK iButton™ read has not been performed, the Door Alarm Output will be activated until the Door Switch is restored to normal. The Door Switch uses a 500 ms loop response time. If this input is not used, place the 2000 ohm resistor on the Input 2 terminals.
- Input 3, Disable Door - Uses a 2000 ohm end-of-line resistor. If activated, the iButton™ Reader for the Door Strike Output will not function. All other functions will work including the Exit Button. This may be used to disable an entrance door strike by a security system. Disable Door input uses a 500 ms loop response time. If this input is not used, place the 2000 ohm resistor on the Input 3 terminals.
- Input 4, Enable Arm/Disarm - Uses a 2000 ohm end-of-line resistor. If activated and a valid iButton™ is read, output 4, Security Arm/Disarm Output, will activate for 1 second. An auxiliary push button switch connected to input 4 may be mounted on or near the iButton™ reader. When this switch is pushed and a valid iButton™ is read, it will momentarily activate the Security Arm/Disarm Output for 1 second to arm or disarm a security control. If this input is not used, place the 2000 ohm resistor on the Input 4 terminals
OUTPUT Definitions:
|
- Output 1, Door Strike - Controls the Door Strike activation or Magnetic Lock de-activation. The output uses a Form C relay, normally open and normally closed contacts rated at 12 amps. The door strike is activated for 15 seconds by a valid iButton™ read or by pressing the Exit Button. If the Exit Button is held activated, the Door Strike Output will remain active.
- Output 2, Door Switch Output - Follows the state of Input 2, the Door Switch Input. This output may connect to a security control for door/alarm status. If the Door Switch Input (Input 2) is activated, the Door Switch Output (Output 2) will be activated. By using this output, only one door switch is needed for access and security.
- Output 3, Door Alarm - If the Door Switch (Input 2) is activated and the Exit Button (Input 1) has not been pushed or a valid iButton™ read has not been performed, the Door Alarm Output will be activated until the Door Switch input is restored to normal.
- Output 4, Security Arm/Disarm - Connects to the momentary key arm/disarm input of a security control panel. When Input 4, Enable Arm/Disarm, is activated and a valid iButton™ read is performed, the Security Arm/Disarm Output will be momentarily activated for 1 second to arm or disarm the security control panel.
