TeleMaster Intercom Interface
The Telemaster Intercom Interface plugs into the TeleMaster (sold separately) and allows you to use your home's phones as an intercom system! By using a reserved Intercom Interface code, when entered from any touch-tone house phone, the code will disconnect all the telephones from the telephone company's central office and place 12 volts DC on your internal phone lines to allow conversation to take place without hearing a dial tone or any operator messages.
The reserved intercom code used, either A9 or J9, depends on which one of the four code transmission types (2, 3, 4, or 5 keypad button presses) has been selected on the Telemaster.
For example, if the code transmission type that allows control of up to 90 addresses has been selected, pressing *09 (J9 ON command) on any touch-tone phone will activate the intercom system.
This J9 ON command can also be used to trigger an audible device, such as an X10 chime module (PHH02) to indicate that the intercom is to be used. Set the chime module address to J9. The chime module(s) can be co-located with the telephones intended for intercom use and will automatically sound when the J9 ON command is sent. If only a particular chime is to be sounded, change the address, then manually dial that code after the intercom is in use.
The Telemaster Intercom Interface must be installed in the telephone wiring upstream of any of the telephones that are to be used as intercoms. A dual modular wall jack is provided to aid in the installation.
