HomeSeer Phone

HomeSeer Phone is an add-on application for HomeSeer that allows you to interact with your computer using your telephone. It will act as a standard answering machine allowing callers to leave messages. It includes a single mailbox answering mode as well as a multiple mailbox mode. Caller ID is captured and may be announced by HomeSeer using text-to-speech or WAV files. When messages are left, they may be forwarded by email to any email account, or a page may be sent. HomeSeer is notified of various phone events such as the phone ringing, the line being answered, messages left, or caller ID available.

You can use any phone inside your home to connect to your computer and give it voice commands to trigger events. Events may be triggered by DTMF (touch tones) on any telephone keypad. Note that voice commands and touch tone commands may be used to control your computer from any remote telephone.

NOTE: This software requires either the Way2Call Hi-Phone telephone interface or the HomeSeer PCI Voice Modem. No other modem or audio device is supported.

The software uses a simple high level scripting language to control the call flow. This makes it easy to create your own IVR (interactive voice response) system.

System Requirements
  • Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or Vista
  • HomeSeer HS2 must be installed
  • Way2Call Hi-Phone telephone interface or the HomeSeer PCI Voice Modem. No other modem or audio device is supported.

Way2Call Hi-Phone Desktop USB Voice Interface

The Way2Call Hi-Phone Desktop allows you to communicate with your PC using any telephone in your home. Just pick up a phone, press "#", then speak voice commands or use the telephone's keypad to control your lights, appliances or audio/video equipment. Any voice commands that you configure in HomeSeer will be available via the telephone.

HomeSeer Phone is designed to allow HomeSeer to access and control special functions in the Way2Call voice interface.

HomeSeer CM11A ActiveX Control

If you develop or would like to develop your own home automation software, check out HomeSeer CM11A ActiveX Control. This ActiveX control can be used to send and receive X10 commands from the CM11A X10 computer controller. The CM11A is an inexpensive computer interface that allows your computer to send and receive X10 commands through its serial port. This activeX control was developed and tested using Visual Basic 5 and 6. The control is available FREE for personal use. See the downloads tab above to download it.

Users who are developing applications for resale will need to purchase the source code for $99.00 directly from HomeSeer. This will allow you to include the control, or the source, in your own application royalty free.

We also have a version of this control that supports the CM17A (firecracker) interface. The CM17A is a "send-only" interface that connects to your computer's serial port. The interface sends X10 commands via RF to an RF receiver. The device cannot receive X10 commands and only supports the X10 ON/OFF/DIM/BRIGHT commands. The download for this control includes source and purchasing support is not available - it's a free plug-in that may be downloaded from the HS2 application 'updater'.
