The RF Notch Filer is an essential element of Home Security Monitoring and Multi-Room Video. It blocks incoming cable TV channels 75-80, allowing the Media Center Modulator or Component Modulator to broadcast an in-house "security" or "entertainment" channel over the coaxial cable system without interference.
Structured Media Systems
Home Office, Home Theatre, Home Entertainment, Home Networking, Home Security, Home Technologyythe very definition of home is evolving. Homeowners' expectations are evolving as well, as new products and technologies transform their homes and their lives. The wired home, once considered a luxury, is now viewed as a necessity in the digital age. The challenge to building the wired home lies in creating an infrastructure with category-rated cabling and components that meets today's needs while laying the groundwork for the whole-house media system of the future. Leviton meets this challenge with Structured Media systems.
Structured Media takes the concept of structured cabling, as practiced in demanding commercial applications, and combines it with multimedia. This blending accommodates the convergence of telephone communications, computer and internet services, audio/video, and much more. An innovative series of modules and media centersyset up as either pre-configured essential platforms or more customized enhanced platformsymanage and distribute voice, data, audio and video in flexible configurations that best suit each homeowner's individual requirements. These requirements can range from something as simple as cable TV and telephone in several rooms, to a large area network or LAN for a small office or home-based business.
Three component groups comprise the Structured Media systems: modules, media centers and Quick-Port wallplates. These groups, along with Leviton's innovative "open architecture," allow the Structured Media system to grow and expand to keep up with the user's changing needs. Each component group has a specific purpose within the systems.
Modules range from video distribution that can support both digital TV services and digital satellite systems (DSS), whole house audio, security video monitoring solutions, Ethernet Hubs for high-speed networking security and internet sharing, and much more. Modules are securely housed in a Structured Media Center or SMC, a professional-grade in-wall panel where all central cabling and the distribution modules come together. Leviton offers three different size panels that can accommodate any system configuration. The acclaimed QuickPort wallplate design forms the business end of the system. With eight different connector types and designer color options, the QuickPort concept offers hundreds of possible voice, data and video media combinations to support any conceivable structured cabling connectivity need.
Each component of Leviton's Structured Media system is derived from the more demanding realm of commercial and professional applications and has been proved under conditions that far exceed anything encountered in the typical household. Meeting these rigorous applications puts the Structured Media system a cut above its competitors. Each properly installed Leviton subsystem is designed to meet TIA-570, the most stringent residential standard proposed by the Telecommunications Industries Association. Every Structured Media system that is installed following the guidelines and requirements of the Leviton Integrated Networks program is backed by Leviton with an unprecedented extended performance guarantee.
Developed for existing and emerging technologies, a Leviton Structured Media infrastructure not only connects a home to the future, but helps ensure its long-term value as well. It is the last word in media management from the first name in electrical excellence.
