This product has been discontinued.

The 6308 Photocell Transmitter automatically senses approaching darkness and responds by sending ON commands to as many as four groups of DHC Receivers (all receiver modules in each group must be set to the same Letter Code). The Receiver Modules respond by turning lights ON inside or outside the home. The 6308 will also transmit OFF commands in response to a user-selected number of hours that it has been ON, or in response to approaching daylight.

Installation And Operating Instructions
6308 Photocell / X10 Transmitter, Light Controller
Rated: 125 VAC, 60 Hz, 2Watts

Operating Instructions:
Be sure to read the operating instructions for setting the controller before installing.

1. Set the House code dial to the same letter as the DEC modules you want the photocell to control.

2. Set the Unit code dial to the number of the first DEC module you want the photocell to control. The photocell will control a group of 4 sequential numbers. For example: If you set the Unit Code dial to 1, the photocell will control modules 1 through 4. If you set it to 2, it will control modules 2 through 5. If it is set to 15, the unit will control modules 15, 18, 1 and 2, etc.

3. Set the appropriate selector switches to ON for the units you want the photocell to control. For example:

Set all four switches to ON if you want the photocell to control all four DEC modules in the group. Set the first and second switches to ON and the third and fourth to OFF if you only want to control the first two DEC modules in the group, etc.

4. Set the Delay dial for the amount of time you want the lights to stay on after they turn on at night. This time can be set between 1/2 hour and 7-1/2 hours in 1/2 hour steps. If the Delay dial is set to O, the lights will turn on when it becomes dark and turn oft when it gets light.

5. Set the slide switch to Dusk if you want the lights to turn on just as it starts to get dark. Set the slide switch to Dark if you want the lights to turn on later at night when it is completely dark.

Installation Instructions:
You can install the photocell in a wall box that is powered all the time, or in a wall box that is wired to a regular wall switch. If the box is wired to a wall switch, leave the switch on otherwise the photocell will not work.

Choose a location that will receive bright daylight.

NOTE: Do not place the photocell where it may be shaded from the daylight, or where outdoor lighting is bright enough to cause the photocell to shut off.

CAUTION: Do not power the photocell from a dimmer or any kind of remote controlled dimmer or electronic switch as serious damage could result!

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF ANY PART, STOP AND CONTACT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.

1. WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE. TEST THAT THE POWER IS OFF-BEFORE WIRING! Use this device only with copper or copper clad wire. With aluminum wire use only devices marked CO/ALR.

2. Install the supplied gasket on the junction box and route the wires from the box through the gasket.

3. To Back Wire: Remove insulation from wire per fSTRIP GAGE" on back of device (about 1/2 inch). Insert straight wires into holes next to appropriate terminal screws [BLACK (hot) wire into holes with brass screw, WHITE (neutral) wire into holes with silver screw]. Tighten screws firmly.

4. Mount photocell to the junction box with the two supplied screws. Check to be sure that the gasket is in place before tightening screws. Installation is complete.
