Sure Action Directional Vehicle Detection Probe
Detects the direction in which a vehicle is traveling (i.e., a car will open a gate if traveling one direction down a driveway and turn on lights if traveling in the other). Needs SU-212 processor.
Features:
- Provides the same basic features as the Standard Probe
- System knows the direction a vehicle is traveling
- System performs different functions based on the vehicle's direction
- The system can provide directional responses using the Directional Probe or, if the Probes need to be further than
- 5 feet apart, using two Standard Probes
- Applications include annunciation, lighting controls, opening or closing garage doors and gates, and initiating video recording
About SureAction Vehicle Detection Probes
The Probes monitor the earth's magnetic field within a given space. A moving vehicle causes a disturbance in this field, inducing a small voltage pulse in a coil. The SU-P5050 can be connected to any of Sure Action's three processors ( SU-111 , SU-212 , SU-313 ).
The Directional Probe ( SU-P8000 ) allows applications requiring a different response depending on the direction a vehicle is traveling. The Directional Probe can only be used in conjunction with the SU-212 Processor.
The output pulse is much larger and more stable than competitors' probes producing a strong resistance to electronic noise. It is transmitted to a processor that can be up to one mile away. The processor further filters and amplifies the pulse, which drives an output relay for 3-4 seconds.
An optional 5-pin ribbon connector available on either the SU-313 or SU-111 processor provides easy hook-up to Sure Action's auxiliary timed relay. Applications include turning on driveway lights and gate motors.
Wiring Requirements - When using a SU-111 or SU-313 processor, use 3-conductor, 22 gauge minimum non-shielded burial cable. 5-foot lead is supplied with the SU-P5050 . Installer supplies any additional cabling up to 5,000 feet. Note: Use shielded cable if wiring is not being buried (surface run).
When using a SU-212 processor and 2 SU-P5050 probes, a 4-conductor, 22-gauge minimum non-shielded burial cable is required.
Note: Lightning can cause probe to trip if using either a SU-313 or SU-111 processor. A lightning check probe can be wired into the SU-212 processor to minimize accidental firing of the system due to lightning.
When placing the probe consider the following conditions:
1) The range of the probe will cover a driveway up to 14 ft. wide.
2) Do not bury probe within 5 ft. of power cables or transformers.
3) Do not bury probe within 14 ft. of high-powered radio transmitter towers.
4) Do not bury probe within 24 ft. of residential traffic.
5) Do not bury probe within 36 ft. of highway traffic.
6) Do not bury probe within 100 ft. of moving trains.
