Adding an outdoor temperature sensor to your IP communicating thermostat can offer you peace of mind when you're away and want to adjust your thermostat remotely based on the outside temperatures. The PTS-O3 provides precision outside temperature sensing for Proliphix IP communicating thermostats. The active sensing element of the PTS-O3 highly stable precision thermistor material accurate to within +/- 0.36°F (0.2°C). The temperature-sensitive element is sheathed in a stainless steel tube and mounted inside a ventilated, treated, white PVC shield to minimize radiant energy and protect it from potentially damaging weather.

Proliphix

This sensor should be mounted horizontally, with the element to the right or left of the handibox in a shaded location, away from all devices (such as exhaust fans) that would disturb the outdoor environment. An optimal location would be below the eaves, one foot down from the top of the wall, in a permanently shady spot. The weather shield on this sensor features a tapered fitting which allows the shield to be rotated by hand. Air vents on the shield should face downward. Internal mounting knockouts provide for direct wall mounting using screws or toggle bolts.
